Who We Are
The independent entertainment industry has never had a talent shortage. It has had an infrastructure shortage. In every city, every scene, in every local creative who filled a room and was told that was as far as they could go, the talent was never the question. The question was always who was going to build the world around it.
This is what OYA does. And we do not build it for one artist at a time. We build it for the entire city.
Every place has its own rhythm. Its own flavor. It’s own way of moving through a room. Detroit has it. New Orleans has it. The difference between a city with a sound the world recognizes and a city whose sound never left the block is not the talent. It is the infrastructure. OYA exists to close that gap. Through management, marketing, music distribution, booking, events, and sync licensing, we build the ecosystem that gives a city’s creative community the foundation to develop its own distinct entertainment identity, one with its own style, its own groove, and its own place in the cultural conversation.
Named for Oya, the Yoruba orisha of streams, transformation, and the marketplace, we operate at the intersection of disruption and devotion. We are devoted to the creatives the industry overlooked, and we are disrupting the system that made overlooking them possible. City by city, we are building creative infrastructures so deeply rooted and so distinctly themselves that the industry has no choice but to come to them.
Founded and led by practitioners with over 7 years in the independent creative industry, OYA is headquartered in North Carolina with active city roots and growing. We began with musicians because music has always been the first language a city uses to tell the world who it is. And we are actively building toward a future that holds space for content creators, streamers, gamers, and athletes. The groove belongs to the city. OYA makes sure the world hears it.
